What is the schedule of diaspora polling stations for the 2024 European Parliament elections?

Polling stations for the 2024 European Parliament elections on Sunday, June 9, will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time in each constituency where the polling station is located. Voting abroad started at 22:00 Romanian time on Saturday, with the opening of the first polling station in New Zealand.

More than 2.5 million ballot papers were sent to 915 polling stations for the European Parliament elections on Sunday, June 9. Most of the polling stations will be in Italy, Spain and Great Britain, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) told a press conference.

Schedule of polling stations in diaspora: 7:00-22:00

Overseas polling starts at 7:00 am local time and ends at 10:00 pm local time. However, polling presiding officers may decide to extend polling till 23:59 if they are unable to vote till 22:00 while standing in the queue.

Overseas voting began at 22:00 Romanian time on Saturday, with the opening of the first polling station in New Zealand.

“It will take place for a period of 34 hours, depending on the time zone, the last units abroad will vote on Monday, June 10, at 8:00 a.m. Romanian time. The last units to be closed are located on the West Coast of the United States and in Canada,” said MAE’s representative with special tasks for electoral processes abroad at a press conference.
