And millions of Democratic voters who genuinely hate Trump and fear his re-election see Newsom as a politician who matches or surpasses Trump in terms of charisma and credibility.

Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States
As vice president, he worked closely with Biden on a variety of issues, including voting rights and foreign policy.
He previously served as San Francisco District Attorney, California Attorney General and California Senator.

Wes Moore, a US Army veteran who is also a Rhodes Scholar, is the first to run for governor in 2022.
He has focused heavily on addressing the most difficult public policy challenges for state and federal leaders, such as child poverty and housing affordability.
The governor, seen by many as a potential 2028 challenger, has been a strong political ally of both Biden and Harris.
Although Moore is relatively new to politics, his profile continues to rise within the Democratic Party.
Sanders, Pritzker, Polis, Shapiro
