The drone of the Ukrainian secret services reached its destination at a distance of more than 1,800 kilometers on the territory of Russia.
An unmanned aerial vehicle of the Defense Intelligence Service of Ukraine struck the Voronezh M long-range target detection radar station located in the city of Orsk in Russia’s Orenburg region.
“The Ukrainian drone traveled more than 1,800 kilometers to an enemy installation, setting a new record in the destructive range of kamikaze drones,” a source at the Defense Intelligence Service of Ukraine (DIU) said. Ukrainian Pravda.
The Voronezh radar is designed to detect space and aerodynamic targets
Russian news agencies wrote that a drone had “fallen” near Orsk and that the target of the drone “may have been a military installation”.
Earlier, the most distant target hit by Ukrainian drones was a facility in the city of Salavat in the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan, which is 140 kilometers closer to the Ukrainian border than Orsk.
The Voronezh M is part of a family of Russian long-range fixed over-the-horizon radars. It is designed to detect space and aerodynamic targets, including ballistic and cruise missiles. This radar operates at one meter frequency and has a target detection range of up to 6,000 kilometers.
