New Brighton family finds mini miracle on ‘Family Feud’

There, dressed in a pink bow tie, pink suspenders and a grey shirt, next to host Steve Harvey, stood New Brighton resident Steve Beckman. 

Beckman was tasked with answering a sudden-death question to win the game show “Family Feud.”

Roseville council votes to buy License Center strip mall


file photo • After the Roseville City Council balked last year at the cost of renovating the space the city leases for its License Center, on Jan. 29 the council approved a purchase agreement to buy the strip mall where the center is located for $2.3 million.

A hidden addition


courtesy of John Vaughn • The final steps of installing a cell tower atop East Immanuel Church took place Jan. 29. The church is leasing space on the top of its bell tower to Verizon for a cell phone antenna.

Passing by East Immanuel Lutheran Church along Payne Avenue, one might notice that something seems different, or maybe not. It’s not very noticeable, and that’s the point.

New Orleans celebrates 300 years


Pamela O’Meara photos/Review • New Orleans has such a high water table that people are buried in vaults above ground in the St. Louis Cemetery, which is more than 200 years old and may be home to ghosts. The city itself, founded by a Frenchman in 1718, celebrates its 300th anniversary this year.

Meet the man behind Barley John’s who is New Brighton’s craft beer purist

Up a little hill off Old Highway 8 and County Road D in New Brighton stands Barley John’s Brew Pub, the eatery and pub where John Moore has brewed and served craft beer all under the same roof since 2000.
