Monthly highlight from School District 622 - March 2018

Spring weight restrictions will go into effect on Washington County Roads at 12:01 a.m. Monday, March 5. Restrictions will be in effect for eight weeks, unless extraordinary conditions require extending them.

Hill-Murray receives $3 million scholarship fund in remembrance of graduate


submitted photo • The Mark. C. Nyman Scholarship was established with the help of Jeanne Nyman in memory of her late husband. She’s pictured above with Hill-Murray President Jim Hansen. According to Jeanne, Nyman, a member of the Hill High School class of 1969, suffered from severe asthma as a child, but was an adventurer at heart. Despite illness, he persistently lived life to its fullest, as a child and as an adult. In addition to developing a successful business career in the medical field, Nyman became a world traveler, scuba diver and sail boat captain.

Maplewood’s Hill-Murray School recently received a $3 million gift, the second largest it has ever received, which will be used as a scholarship fund to help support 20 students each year.

As membership triples, Roseville Police Explorers Post seeks public’s support


Mike Munzenrider • Roseville Police Explorer Dawson Fischer conducts a simulated traffic stop during a recent Explorers meeting in a garage beneath the Roseville Police Department. The Explorer post’s membership has nearly tripled since last year, and the police department is seeking the public’s support for the program, which teaches young people about law enforcement, ahead of a state competition.

Post teaches young people about law enforcement during time of need.

All kinds of meetings are commonplace at Roseville City Hall, but few include simulated police traffic stops or controlled bomb scares.

Ramsey County Sheriff holds award ceremony

For their work serving the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office employees are treated to the offices Employee Recognition Ceremony each year. This year’s event was held at North Heights Lutheran Church in Arden Hills Feb. 21 during the lunch hour.
