Amid concerns from neighbors and questions about emergency services, the North St. Paul City Council denied a request to allow a chemical-dependency treatment facility to move into the former Transitional Care Center.
Over 200 people crowded into Holy Cross Lutheran Church, just up the street from Oakdale Elementary, on Tuesday evening. The Candlelight Vigil and Service of Remembrance focused on love and forgiveness with a theme verse 1 Corinthians 13:13. Lynea Geinert, Oakdale Wesleyan Church Lead Pastor Paul Tillman, Director of Children's Ministry/Education at Holy Cross Susan Megrund and Holy Cross Senior Pastor John Stiles spoke at the vigil. Other local clergy attended and Boy Scout Troop 580 offered their support.
A suspect has been charged with second-degree intentional murder in the death of 9-year-old Devin Joseph Aryal, who was shot and killed in what police described as a random shooting in Oakdale at dusk Feb. 11.
