The spirit of Thanksgiving embraced through volunteering

For many families, it is a Thanksgiving tradition to gather together for a meal of turkey, cranberries, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. For the Colosimos, the tradition is to share this meal with others in the community.

Oakdale students raise $32,000 in read-a-thon

Sheriff’s office says beware of card skimmer fraud


courtesy of Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office • A masked scammer either attaching or removing a card skimmer on an ATM in Shoreview, as recently captured by the automatic teller machine’s security camera.

Two men, in from out of state, are on the run from the Burnsville police. They hole up in a Vadnais Heights hotel room, where they’ve just received a shipment of 250 blank bank cards, which they’ll use to make fraudulent cards.

Inver Grove Heights selects new police chief


A meet-and-greet was held Nov. 8 with the final candidates for Inver Grove Heights police chief, the night before the Inver Grove Heights City Council held a special meeting to select the city’s new chief. The council selected Paul Schnell, a former Maplewood police chief. His official hiring is still pending.

Veterans honored at Oakdale Elementary program


The event’s guest speaker, Brian Ritchie, showed the audience photos from his time in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army and described his experience learning how to parachute out of an airplane. Ritchie served on active duty from 1995 to 1998.

Charges pile up against alleged gas station robber

Lake Elmo and Oakdale experiencing uptick in residential break-ins


Oakdale is experiencing an increase in the number of burglaries in the northeast corner of the city, according to police. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office also noted an increase in burglaries in the neighboring portion of Lake Elmo, known as the Tri-Lakes area. • courtesy of Oakdale Police Department

Lake Elmo and Oakdale are experiencing an increase in the number of break-ins, especially in instances where doors to vehicles, garages or homes are left unlocked.
