Not connected but doing well

Solomon Gustavo • Homes on Dale Courts north and sourth are not connected to Shoreview city water and have private wells. People there are accustomed to living with well water and enjoy it. Still, they might have an opportunity to connect to Shoreview’s water supply through a city project approved Dec. 4.

Neighborhood weighs opportunity of hooking up to Shoreview water.

Oakdale gifts residents silent nights, just in time for the holidays

Aundrea Kinney/Review • After a final inspection, Oakdale will be a railroad quiet zone, where locomotive engineers will no longer be required to blow their train horns before reaching rail crossings at Oakdale streets. To avoid crossing collisions, signs and medians were installed at the city’s four at-grade crossings, such as the one on Hadley Avenue near Menards.

City’s rail crossings set to become quiet zones

Oakdale residents will soon be able to say goodbye to sleepless nights — or at least to waking up in the middle of the night to train horns blaring.

Roseville ‘brewstillery’ pushing for state law change

Mike Munzenrider • Bartley Blume, who owns Roseville’s Bent Brewstillery, is pushing for a change in state law that would allow for businesses such as his, which makes beer and spirits, to sell both at the site of production. Blume is seen in the Bent taproom with the brewstillery’s second whiskey offering, One-Twenty, which went on sale Dec. 2.

Minnesota state law is clear: If a company both brews beer and distills spirits, it can have a taproom or a cocktail room where its production takes place, but it can’t have both.
