Three yard waste sites accept Christmas trees

Three Ramsey County yard waste sites remain open to the public on a limited basis through March and accept Christmas trees. Two sites in St. Paul (Midway and Frank & Sims) and the White Bear Township site are open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 14 and 15, Feb. 11 and 12, and March 11 and 12.

Although the sites accept Christmas trees, residents should check with their waste hauler and/or city first; most haulers and cities provide curbside pick-up of Christmas trees. Christmas trees accepted at a Ramsey County site must be real trees with all decoration, tinsel, wire and stands removed. Flocked Christmas trees are accepted but not wreaths, swags or artificial trees.

Other items accepted include: brush and tree waste (all parts of the tree but no stumps), leaves, grass clippings and other soft-bodied plants.

Ramsey County residents only may use the sites. Residents will be asked to show ID at the sites as proof of residency. No out-of-county or commercial services brush is accepted.
