St. Croix Valley Boy Choir gets Chordsmen’s help

The Croix Chordsmen, St. Croix Valley’s popular barbershop chorus, is supporting the activities of the St. Croix Valley Boy Choir. The group recently gave the boy choir a check for $1,000 to help them provide student scholarships for boys who like to sing.

Now the boy choir has invited the Croix Chordsmen to be part of their upcoming spring show. The concert will be at the UW River Falls Fine Arts Center on April 1.

Meanwhile, the boy choir is busy getting up new songs and preparing for their show, while the Chordsmen are warming up two special numbers for the Barbershopper’s 10,000 Lake Division competition, coming up in Faribault, Minn. on March 18.

Also, Jeff Night of Hudson, Wis., the chapter’s vice president, is gearing up for a Chordsmen guest night on March 28. This will be an open house for all area men who like to sing. Guests are welcome to come and sit in with the Chordsmen at their rehearsal at the New Heights Charter School, 614 Mulberry Street in Stillwater, starting at 7 p.m.

At the same time, Show Chairman Jerry Gibson (of River Falls) and his assistant Roger Bosmoe (of Stillwater) are working hard on the Chordsmen’s annual spring show, set for April 22. There will be two performances at the Stillwater Area High School Auditorium at 3 and 7 p.m. They have selected the theme of “Every Time I Feel the Spirit.” The headliner for the show this year is the very popular International Champion Quartet GOTCHA, coming all the way from the bay area of California. Reserved seats are $12, with general admission at $8.
