Oakdale Tree Board awarded Tree Trust grant

Over 300 trees will be planted next spring by community groups who received a 2005 Tree Trust Planting Grant funded by The Home Depot Foundation. One of the eight groups receiving a grant of up to $3,500 is the Oakdale Tree Board.

The board will recruit planting volunteers and, assisted by Tree Trust, provide tree care and maintenance education before any digging begins. Trees will be planted to prevent erosion, conserve energy, beautify and improve water quality.

Tree Trust’s mission, to improve the community environment by investing in people, complements the objectives of its project partner, The Home Depot Foundation. The foundation invests in nonprofit organizations that are in the business of building strong, healthy communities and focuses its efforts in the area of tree planting to restore urban forests.
