Buckthorn Brigade volunteer training set for March 11

Join Ramsey County Parks and Recreation, in partnership with St. Paul Audubon Society and become part of the Buckthorn Brigade. Information will be provided on how to identify both common and glossy buckthorn; identify native trees and shrubs; learn proper removal techniques and tools; learn how to deal with the piles of buckthorn after it is cut.

The Buckthorn Brigade training is needed for any one or group interested in helping with buckthorn removal programs in Ramsey County Parks. Ramsey County Parks has removal kits, including saws, loppers, gloves, etc. available to community groups wanting to do buckthorn removal. Kits are set up for groups of 10, of which one must have gone through the Buckthorn Brigade training.

The training program will be held at Tamarack Nature Center, 5287 Otter Lake Road in White Bear Township on March 11 from 9 a.m. to noon.
