Ban the Bug Catch-Up Clinic open Dec. 20

Washington County Public Health and Environment is holding a Ban the Bug Catch-Up Clinic on Tuesday, Dec. 20 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Cottage Grove Armory. The clinic is being held in conjunction with the statewide Ban the Bug Campaign, an effort to encourage Minnesotans to get their flu shot.

“It is not too late to get a flu shot,” according to Kristin Nichol, M.D., chief of medicine at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center and chair of the Minnesota Coalition for Adult Immunization. “The Ban the Bug Campaign seeks to remind people that there is still time to get their annual influenza vaccination.”

Flu vaccinations are especially important for those 50 and older and people with chronic health conditions, but they can benefit anyone wishing to avoid the flu.

The vaccination costs $20 and is free to those with Medicare Part B. Residents are reminded to bring their Medicare cards along to the clinic. It is also advised to wear short sleeves.
