When 26-year-old Dave Wachholz, who at the time was fresh out of the Navy, started working as a daytime stock boy for Knowlan’s Fresh Foods on Sept. 3, 1968, he had no way of knowing he would be with the company for the next 50 years.
Community members in South St. Paul came together Aug. 27 to honor the women who voted for the first time on Aug. 27, 1920, following the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.

Sassy local business debuts as official new food at State Fair
When Ka Small was growing up, food was a reason to get together and a source of community.
The South St. Paul City Council approved Aug. 20 a request to seek assistance from Dakota County to address the impacts in the city related to housing support facilities, more commonly known as group homes.
On Aug. 11, folks headed to Fleming Field in South St. Paul for the annual Relay for Life. Those in attendance helped raise money for the American Cancer Society by walking laps.
