Peter Fischer Named Century College’s 2013 Outstanding Alum

Peter Fischer

The Century College Alumni Association Board of Directors has named Peter Fischer the 2013 Century College Outstanding Alum. He gave the commencement address to Century graduates on May 17 at Aldrich Arena.
A Maplewood resident and a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives serving his first term, Fischer was the student body president at Lakewood Community College, a forerunner of Century College, in the late 1970s, a time of dramatic social change. It was at Lakewood that Fischer resolved to spend his life helping people make their voices heard.

North students up to ‘Below Sea Level’ creative challenge

Your assignment: to come up with a plot for a musical revue.
Sound easy? Well, consider you have to work in songs as diverse as “Matchmaker” from “Fiddler on the Roof;” “SOS,” the 1970s ABBA hit; the ‘80s rocker “Holdin’ Out for a Hero” and even a Beyoncé medley, just to name a few.
Fortunately for audiences, North High Show Choir performers Jack Bonko and Brandon Cayetano were up to the challenge.
