Following recommendations from the Oakdale Police Department, the Oakdale City Council denied renewing Smokedale Tobacco’s tobacco licence at its Oct. 23 meeting. The store, located in the 7100 block of 10th Street North, had long been under scrutiny from law enforcement.

Oakdale employs a metro area bowhunting organziation to control its deer population when it gets too large. Hunts are planned in early November at varous sites in the city.
Deer can easily become overpopulated in the metro area, where natural predators no longer exist and hunting is limited or prohibited by local ordinance.
