Parkway players are state champions

The team played great and one athlete in particular, Francisco Gallegos Jr. had a stellar performance in game two — a win for Parkway vs. Plymouth in the state tournament. He pitched the entire game, hit a more than 200-foot and over the fence homerun, had two doubles, a walk and three RBIs. (photos courtesy of Shannon Tesser)

The Parkway Little League 10U All Stars are state champs. The success started earlier this summer, with the team winning the District 2 Championship — while going undefeated in the tournament — on July 17 against Shoreview. This was the first Parkway team to win a district title since Parkway’s founding in 1955. After winning the district title, the team moved on to the state tournament in Circle Pines, where the players came home as state champions, going 3-1 for the tournament and defeating Plymouth in the championship game 7-4 on July 28. More information about the team can be found at Parkway Little League, which has been on the East Side since its founding, has fields at 1130 Third St. E.
