NEWSBRIEF: State Fair hiring event

The Minnesota State Fair will host its fourth annual job fair from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, in the fairgrounds’ Progress Center, located at 1621 Randall Ave. in Falcon Heights. Attendees can enter through the fairgrounds’ main gate at 1265 Snelling Ave. N., then head north on Cosgrove Street to reach the building. 

More than 500 fair-time positions will be available at the event, through fair departments and individual vendors. Potential jobs could include selling tickets, managing parking, helping with rides and games, working in the barn, serving food and more.

Wages for most positions range from $9.86 to $11 per hour. If hired, employees will receive free fair admission. Applicants must be at least 16 years old and available to work all 12 days of the fair, from Aug. 22 through Sept. 2. 

At the event, applicants will first meet with a representative from the fair. If their interests, availability and experience match an open position, a department or vendor will interview them. Resumes are not required. The applicant line will begin forming at 3 p.m. and anyone in line by 7:45 p.m. will be able to participate.
