NEWSBRIEF: Apply for the Citizen’s Academy

The South St. Paul Citizen’s Academy is accepting applications for the 2019 session. Topics covered include functions of patrol, use of force, laws of arrest, traffic stops, DWI demonstration and more. The academy classes will be taught by South St. Paul and Inver Grove Heights Police Officers. Those interested are asked to make a commitment to attend each session. The sessions will be held each Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. The sessions will begin on Aug. 27 and run until Oct. 22. After the successful completion of this program, citizens will be given an opportunity to ride‐ along with a South St. Paul Police Officer for four hours during his or her shift. If you are interested in participating in the citizen’s academy, fill out an application form and return it to the South St. Paul Police Department no later than Aug. 9.
