LETTER: Thankful for mentors, friends

To the Editor:

For the past two years, I have had the distinct honor of serving with two incredibly-dedicated public servants — Lori Pulkrabek and Bill Rasmussen. Come January, Lori and Bill will retire from public service to our city, and all of Oakdale owes them a tremendous amount of gratitude for their time and effort in working towards a better Oakdale.

Their four decades of combined volunteerism and public service has left a lasting mark on our city, from large projects, like the Discovery Center and development at Hy-Vee, to the continued growth and maintenance of our parks system.

Since joining the city council, I have been able to look towards the example set by Bill and Lori. They have been mentors, guiding how I look at issues, and experienced voices offering advice when needed. Perhaps most importantly, they have been friends, not just to me, but to all residents, and always willing to listen.

If you see Bill and Lori around Oakdale, please thank them for their service. Our city is a better place because of them.
