Dude, you stole my car?

A 38-year-old man called the police Feb. 26 to report his car was stolen sometime overnight from the 4700 block of Highway 10; he called back an hour later to say his buddy had the car.

 

Sandwich stealers

Three teenagers made off with $41 worth of food from the Subway sandwich shop in the 300 block of Lexington Avenue on Feb. 27.

Lauderdale

Arrest

A 37-year-old man stopped at Larpenteur Avenue and Highway 280 was arrested for an outstanding Ramsey County felony assault warrant Feb. 17 and was booked at the county jail.

 

Drugs

A 52-year-old man stopped at Highway 280 and Larpenteur Avenue Feb. 15 was arrested for fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine — and was booked at the Ramsey County Jail. On Feb. 16, a 32-year-old man stopped in the 2400 block of Larpenteur Avenue was booked at the jail for possession of meth, as well as giving false information to police and having no proof of insurance.

 

Stolen ATV

Security footage from a business in the 2500 block of Broadway Street Feb. 13 shows a person stealing an ATV from the business parking lot overnight. Police entered the all-terrain vehicle into the computer as stolen; it’s value was unknown.


 

Mounds View

Cut fence

An officer was dispatched to the 2200 block of Woodale Drive Feb. 12 on a report that someone had cut through a security fence at a property. The cost to fix the damage is unknown.

 

DWI, and then some

Officers headed to the 7700 block of Silver Lake Road the afternoon of Feb. 16 on a report of a car parked halfway in a driveway and halfway in the roadway. They ended up arresting a 31-year-old Mounds View man for second-degree DWI as well as carrying a pistol while under the influence of alcohol.

 

Smells like unlocked car

A caller told police Feb. 17 that someone had gotten into their unlocked car as it was parked in the 5100 block of Jackson Drive and stolen a $50 bottle of cologne that was inside it.

 

‘Stolen/ missing’ handgun

A caller who lives in the 5100 block of Rainbow Lane called the police Feb. 15 to report a “stolen/missing” handgun.


 

Little Canada

Mail theft

A 71-year-old woman who who lives in the 2800 block of Noel Drive told police Feb. 24 someone had stolen outgoing mail from her mailbox, mail that included two now-canceled checks.

 

Why?

A 47-year-old man called the police the morning of Feb. 21 to report his car was stolen sometime overnight from the 200 block of County Road B2. He’d left his keys on his mailbox the night before, and when he came out in the morning both his keys and car were gone.

Lock the car

A prowler stole sunglasses and loose change from an unlocked car parked in the 2000 block of Tioga Boulevard as reported Feb. 27 by the 35-year-old man who owns the vehicle.

 

Stolen plate

A 37-year-old man told police Feb. 27 that someone stole the rear license plate off his car in the days prior as it was parked in the 1000 block of County Road D.

 

Theft

A 44-year-old woman told police Feb. 27 that the stuff she left unattended in an apartment hallway was stolen earlier that day at an apartment complex in the 900 block of County Road D. She’s out $330 worth of stuff, including a jacket and a backpack that contained a wallet, $100 cash, her ID and credit cards.

 

 

Shoreview

‘Battle sticks’

Deputies received a report Feb. 26 of a man on a Metro Transit bus near the Shoreview Community Center who apparently had a rifle. Deputies and transit police caught up to the bus at the community center stop as the man got off and entered the center. Officers stopped the man, identified as a 27-year-old from Maplewood, and searched him without incident, finding a rifle scope, bottle of vodka, items he called “battle sticks” and a knife. Everything he had on him was legal but the community center bans weapons so the officers told him he had to leave. At that point he became belligerent so he was arrested for disorderly conduct.

 

Inside job

The owner of a business located in the 3800 block of Lexington Avenue told police Feb. 23 that an employee had made unauthorized charges on the company card three different times in December.

A 32-year-old woman told police Feb. 23 she left her car parked and unlocked in the 4100 block of Lexington Avenue and someone stole her pink, $100 boots out of the vehicle.


 

St. Anthony

Coffee shop heist

A man asked for change at the Caribou Coffee in the 2700 block of 39th Avenue Feb. 18. When the woman working the register handed him the change, he threw it back at her and attempted to reach over the counter and open the register. A second employee then saw the man enter the back room; the man then left. The employees discovered that the man had stolen $490 from an unlocked safe in the back room. Police were given a description of the man and checked the area but did not find him.

 

Drugs

A 19-year-old man stopped Feb. 14 at Silver Lake Road and Silver Lane was arrested for fifth-degree drug possession — THC wax. He was also cited for driving with a revoked license and had an outstanding Hennepin County theft warrant; he was booked at the Ramsey County Jail.

 

Grafitti

City workers discovered Feb. 12 that someone had spray painted the lift station in the 3900 block of Foss Road.

 

If not detox ...

Employees at the Cub Foods in the 3900 block of Silver Lake Road called the police to report a drunk man at the store. Officers found the man, a 57-year-old, who was very intoxicated — he registered a .34 blood alcohol concentration. Since detox had no beds at the time, the man was taken to the hospital

 

On the run

Officers stopped a car speeding at 62 miles per hour on Silver Lake Road at 34th Avenue Feb. 12 — as they pulled it over, they were told it was listed as stolen out of Minneapolis. A passenger in the car, a 15-year-old girl, was reported as a runaway out of Minneapolis and she admitted to police that she’d stolen the car. The driver, an 18-year-old, was wanted on a juvenile warrant for felony theft. Both were booked at the Juvenile Detention Center, the girl for felony motor vehicle theft and the 18-year-old for the warrant; he was also cited for reckless driving, tampering with a motor vehicle and for having no valid Minnesota license. Minneapolis PD was told the car had turned up and officers also called the girl’s father to let him know where she was.

 

Theft

An employee at the cell phone store in the 2800 block of Kenzie Terrace left his office Feb. 16 to help a customer when he saw someone walk into the office, then leave. That person had stolen two tablet computers worth $340.
