Killer Thrillers Book Group

The group will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the West St. Paul Library, 199 Wentworth Ave. E., to discuss this month’s book “The Innocent Man” by John Grisham. The group meets every month to discuss classic and new mysteries and thrillers. 

 

TED TALKS

The first 20 minutes is spent watching a popular pre-selected TED TALK video before facilitator Tom Johnson leads a discussion by posing a few questions to get the conversation started and the group will do the rest. Topics and speakers are announced ahead of time via the bulletin board and the Thompson Park Activity Center e-newsletter. The next meeting is Dec. 19 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Thompson Park Activity Center, 1200 Stassen Lane, West St. Paul. No registration is needed. There is a suggested $1 donation at the door. 

 

Family law clinic

Receive a free 30-minute consultation on Dec. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. from a volunteer attorney regarding Family Law matters, such as divorce, child custody, child support, visitation, paternity issues, spousal maintenance and domestic abuse. This clinic is a joint program of Legal Assistance of Dakota County, the Dakota County Family Court, and the Dakota County Law Library. Call 651-438-4364 to schedule an appointment, which will be taking place at the West St. Paul Library 199 Wentworth Ave. E.

 

Maker Mornings

Create, build, and tinker in a relaxed, exploratory, and playful atmosphere on Dec. 20 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. This is open to ages 3 to 6 and will take place at the South St. Paul Library, 106 Third Ave. N.

 

Discover group

Join Ph.D. Biochemist Gary Gray each month to engage in discussions on articles from the latest issue of “Discover,” which has short articles and is easily understood by people without a science background. December’s meeting will be on Dec. 20 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at Thompson Park Activity Center, 1200 Stassen Lane, West St. Paul. No registration is needed. There is a suggested $1 donation at the door.

 

Mendota Heights Book Group

This is a partnership between the Wentworth Library and the City of Mendota Heights, ISD 197, and Tri-District Community Education. The group meets the third Wednesday of every month at 10 a.m., at Mendota Elementary, 1979 Summit Lane, Mendota Heights, in the media center. December’s book is “Plague of Doves” by Louise Erdrich. 

 

Opera Storytelling

Hear stories read and sung by trained opera singers from the Minnesota Opera and complete an art project to go with the story. This is Minnesota Legacy program sponsored by Minnesota’s Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund. Open to ages 3 to 6, it will take place from 2 to 3 p.m., at the West St. Paul Library, 199 Wentworth Ave. E.
