Young Writers Group

Join other teen writers Dec. 12 in doing inspiring exercises, sharing feedback, being creative and having fun. This will run from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., at the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave., and it is open to ages 10 to 16. 

 

Video editing on the cheap

Boost the look and appeal of your videos with low-cost or free apps that can help you edit and deliver good video on a low budget. Bring a device with a video camera to the West St. Paul Library, 199 Wentworth Ave. E., on Dec. 12. Computer and internet basics class and/or ability to use the mouse are prerequisites. Presented by Twin Cities Media Alliance, registration is required. This will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Call 651-554-6800 for more information.

 

South St. Paul afternoon book club

Join the group as it delves into the details of a good book at its monthly meeting. December’s meeting will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the library, 106 Third Ave. N. This month’s book is “The Dinner” by Herman Koch. The evening group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m., on Dec. 14.

 

WonderWorks

On Dec. 14 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., explore topics in science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on play, experimentation, (and books). Registration is required. This is open to ages 3 to 6 and will take place at the South St. Paul Library, 106 Third Ave. N. Call 651-554-3240 for more information.

 

Waggin’ Tales

Bring your kids to the library to read to certified therapy dogs. Not only it is fun, but it helps develop reading skills and fluency. This is open to kids ages 5 to 10.  This will be at the West St. Paul Library, 199 Wentworth Ave. E., from 10:30 a.m., to noon on Dec. 16, and the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave., from 11 a.m. to noon the same day.

 

Blue Christmas

Is Christmas a difficult time for you?  Join Faith United for a Blue Christmas worship on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 4 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 1530 Oakdale Ave., West St. Paul.  There will be music, time for prayer and meditation, a time to pause and reflect. Skate with Santa

Santa, Mrs. Claus and Frosty will be at the Doug Woog Arena for the Holiday Annual Skate from 4:40 to 6 p.m. Dec. 17. Again this year, Santa will be bringing his sleigh for free photos with Santa. Strap on some skates and skate with Santa’s elves and reindeer. Don’t have a pair of skates? Bring a non–perishable food item for Neighbors, Inc. for a free skate rental or rentals are available for $2. There’ll be holiday music, refreshments, treats and a lot of fun. One lucky skater will win a $25 Visa Gift Card compliments of Wakota Federal Credit Union. Doug Woog Arena is located at 141 Sixth St. S. in South St. Paul. Killer Thrillers Book Group

The group will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the West St. Paul Library, 199 Wentworth Ave. E., to discuss this month’s book “The Innocent Man” by John Grisham. The group meets every month to discuss classic and new mysteries and thrillers.
