HH-2017: "The Nutcracker's Nuts"

Get a ride from Maplewood to the Daytrippers Dinner Theater Dec. 7 to enjoy a comical holiday performance and a buffet-style lunch that includes chicken Kiev, roast pork loin and country sausage with sauerkraut, a salad bar and a number of options as sides.

“The Nutcracker’s Nuts” plot develops from the following premise: The residents of Simon’s Rest, a retirement community in Frankfort, Michigan, have been complaining about the quality of the holiday program. They are tired of the same boring production of “A Christmas Carol.” The guy who plays Scrooge can’t remember his lines anymore, and Tiny Tim is six feet tall. After the loss of their director, the program committee decides to look for another script. Not realizing it’s a ballet, they plan a production of “The Nutcracker.” When the residents find out it has a ballet, they want to back out but it’s too late — the show is sold out and they come to realize the show much go on! Think of it as your only chance to see “The Nutcracker” performed with walkers!

This group will leave the Maplewood Parks and Recreation office at 11:15 a.m. and return around 4:15 p.m. Dec. 7. The $60 fee include the ride to and from the theater, the cost of the ticket and the buffet. To register, call 651-249-2120 or visit www.maplewoodmn.gov/1097/Parks-Recreation and click “Register Online Go” on the right side of the page.
