Pedestrian struck at Johnson Parkway and East Seventh

A pedestrian on a motorized mobility scooter was struck by a vehicle while crossing Johnson Parkway at the intersection of East Seventh Street at approximately 2:30 p.m July 3.

A 78-year-old driver from St. Paul struck the pedestrian in the crosswalk while turning left onto Johnson Parkway from East Seventh Street.

St. Paul Police spokesperson Mike Ernster said police arrived at the scene and found the victim conscious and alert with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to Regions Hospital to treat the injuries. 

According to police, the 78-year-old driver had admitted to drinking and was arrested at the scene for criminal vehicular operation. Charges are pending.
