North St. Paul man dies in Pine County ATV accident

A North St. Paul man died the morning of June 24 when he lost control of the ATV he was riding, flipping it multiple times. A woman riding with him was also injured and was airlifted to a hospital.

A press release from the Pine County Sheriff’s Office said 30-year-old Kyle Rosengren was killed in the accident, which deputies responded to around 3:30 a.m. in Finlayson, located in east-central Minnesota.

According to the release, the passenger told deputies the accident occurred on Michaelson Road when Rosengren, who was already driving fast, did not slow down for the corner at the intersection with Pine Lake Road. After the crash, the woman called friends at a nearby cabin for help, but by the time they got back to the cabin, Rosengren, who was seen breathing after the accident, no longer had a pulse.

Someone at the scene started performing CPR while 911 was called, according to the release.

Sheriff’s deputies, a rescue team and an ambulance responded, but Rosengren was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Witness statements indicate alcohol and speed of the machine as factors in the crash,” the statement said.

At the time of his death, Rosengren had nearly completed a sentence of one year of probation. In 2016 he pleaded guilty to a Ramsey County misdemeanor charge of fourth-degree driving while impaired.

In the days following the accident, a Gofundme.com account was set up for Rosengren’s wife and baby daughter. The Gofundme page, which aims to take the financial burden off the family, states, “Kyle was a dedicated, loving, and caring father. He was so proud to just have celebrated his first Father’s Day. ... He treasured his family and friends more than anything in the world, and would drop anything he was doing to help anyone he could.”

Rosengren’s funeral was June 28 at Church of St. Peter in North St. Paul.
