Arden Hills

Burglary

A couple that lives in the 1800 block of Highway 96 reported their home was burglarized April 24. The intruders smashed a window in the front door to get in — the homeowners knew this when they went to police because they have cameras, which also captured the thieves’ license plate number. Items lost in the burglary include an Xbox game console, a television and long-stem wedding glasses; other valuable items such as computers were left behind. Police tracked down the van used in the burglary the next day — it had crashed into parked cars in downtown Minneapolis at 1 a.m. The people inside the van ran from the accident; none of the items stolen from the Arden Hills home were found inside the van.

Failed car theft

A 21-year-old Bethel University student told police someone broke into his car while it was parked on campus April 25. The car, a 1991 Honda Civic 4x4 hatchback, is rare, according to its owner, so it’s likely the prowler was trying to steal it. Sure enough, a shaved key was found in the igition; since the car wouldn’t go the thief took the Civic’s sound system, a loss of about $540.

A 20-year-old woman stopped for speeding April 14 in the 1800 block of Hamline Avenue was arrested and cited for driving with a revoked license, violating a learner’s permit and for the speeding. A considerate thief?

The thief went to the man’s car and stole $20 cash from inside it, but left the car, the man’s wallet and credit cards behind. That same day, a 62-year-old man reported a similar theft of car keys and circumstances — his only loss was a phone charger out of his car.

Stolen soda

A thirsty thief forced his or her way into a garage in the 1400 block of 10th Street NW and stole two 12-packs of Mountain Dew, a twelver of Sierra Mist and a sixer of Heineken beer. The burglar even nabbed a cooler to put it all in — the cooler was worth $10.

Stolen from

 the driveway

A 26-year-old man was only popping into his house in the 2300 block of Erin Court the evening of April 23 for 15 minutes, so he thought it would be fine to leave his wallet and keys in his 2000 Chevy Silverado while it was parked in his driveway. The woman said she’s moving out of her apartment and figures the thief might have been a potential renter being shown the place.

Blame the suburban hunters?
