District 199 appoints new school board member

Sherry Warrick
The District 199 School Board appointed Sherry Warrick to fill the board seat left vacant by Bridget Cronin, who resigned in August due to a change in her residency, at a special meeting Sept. 8.
Warrick was one of four applicants the board considered, including Inver Grove Heights residents Amy Donovan, Mathias Schaefer and Jerry Mulvihill, according to a press release.
Each applicant addressed the board, expressing their interest in the position at the meeting open to the public.
Applicants were eliminated one by one in a series of ballot voting rounds.
In the final round, the full school board appointed Warrick with a unanimous roll-call vote.
Warrick has been a full- and part-time K-6 teacher for 28 years in San Antonio, Texas, as well as Inver Grove Heights and Apple Valley. She is married and has three children, two of whom attend Simley High School. One son's at Inver Grove Heights Middle School.
She's been a member of the Inver Grove Heights Hockey Board since 2013, and served on the Language Arts Literacy Committee from 2009-2011.
"I am excited about the positive energy that is underway in ISD 199," Warrick said in a statement. "I am proud to be a Simley Spartan."
Warrick is expected to take the oath of office at the board's next regular meeting Sept. 22. She will serve the remainder of Cronin's term through Dec. 31, 2015.
Cronin served on the board for 10 years.
