Mounds View

Aggravated assault
A 29-year-old Spring Lake Park man was arrested and booked at the jail on a third-degree aggravated assault charge after punching a 30-year-old local man outside a bar Feb. 7 in the 2200 block of County Hwy. 10.

Arrests
Police stopped a driver with a suspended license Feb. 6 at County Road H2 and Quincy Street. An officer smelled a “strong odor” of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and a search turned up 31 grams of the illegal weed. The 18-year-old man was charged with the license infraction and possession of a small amount of marijuana.

A 49-year-old man was picked up on Woodlawn and Edgewood drives Feb. 8 on a gross-misdemeanor warrant for his arrest for first-degree DWI along with a variety of other charges including driving after license cancellation-inimical to public safety, expired registration, no headlights and open bottle.

Theft
Two hundred in cash and 120 Oxycodone pills went missing Feb. 4 in the 4000 block of Glenhaven Lane. An overnight guest was questioned but denied any knowledge of the missing money or drugs.

New Brighton

Burglary
A residence in the 2700 block of Innsbruck Drive N.W. was ransacked during the owner’s month-long absence in February. Entrance was gained by breaking through the rear garage service door. Items missing included a pair of handguns - a .40 cal. Glock 23 and a .45 cal. Smith & Wesson - two rifles, three cameras, a knife, silver ingots, jewelry, silver dollars, a Seiko watch, a wallet and a large, empty safe. The total loss was estimated at about $7,000. A crowbar was collected as evidence.  

A house sitter in the 500 block of Inca Lane reported several pieces of clothing missing, items moved around and footsteps leading to and from the garage door keypad Feb. 16. The sitter said she was missing jeans, a hoodie, Victoria Secret underwear and a Coach purse valued at $140. Cash and a checkbook on the kitchen table were not taken. Several people have the access code to the house but are not considered suspects at this time, according to police.

Who’s been sleeping in my bed?
A neighbor checking on a house Feb. 15 in the 3000 block of Spring Creek Drive while the homeowner has been in Arizona for the past several weeks, found the back door kicked in. Looking around inside, he found the heat turned up and the bed appearing to have been recently slept in.  Damp towels were near the shower, and cleaning products along with rubber gloves were in evidence. Dresser drawers and a jewelry box appeared rifled. The loss is unknown.

Theft
Thieves broke into a vehicle parked outside a bar the night of Feb. 12 in the 700 block of County Road D, making off with several Dect-Com radios, a dozen Peltor headsets and miscellaneous electronics. The total loss was estimated at about $9,000.

St. Anthony

Early start
A 17-year-old boy got an early start on building a criminal record when he was cited Feb. 8 in the 2200 block of St. Anthony Boulevard for speeding, driving after license suspension, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and no proof of insurance.

Assault?
A man contacted police Feb. 4, saying that a 49-year-old woman, following an argument, assaulted him. The suspect was questioned by phone and photos were taken of the 54-year-old victim’s injuries. The case was forwarded to the city attorney for possible charging.

Theft
A resident in the 2500 block of Silver Lane awoke Feb. 6 to find his vehicle on blocks and his wheels missing. The four tires and rims were valued at a total of $3,478.

A package valued at $70 was delivered to a woman’s building in the 2700 block of Foss Road Feb. 6 and left outside her apartment. A thief picked it up.

Shoreview

Domestic assault
Deputies responded to a report of a man pulling a woman out of a vehicle on Owasso Street Feb. 16. The woman, 18, was found inside their apartment and said the boyfriend, also 18, had hit, slapped and grabbed her before pushing her down on the bed and fleeing the scene. He was found by Maplewood police and booked at the jail on charges of domestic assault, fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Scrapper alert
A thief broke into the park manager’s garage at a trailer park in the 1600 bock of County Road J on Valentine’s Day and made off with an $8,500 brass water meter. We think we know where that’s heading, but the thief also grabbed a $350 Homelite leaf blower and we’re not sure what he’s going to do with that.

Theft
Eight vehicles were broken into between midnight and six a.m. Feb. 12 in the underground garage of an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Kent Street. Several pieces of electronics, including an iPod and a $500 car stereo went missing.

A prowler smashed a window of a vehicle parked the afternoon of Feb. 12 in the Turtle Lake Elementary School lot, making off with a brown leather purse containing a Samsung phone and credit cards that had been left on the front passenger seat. The prowler immediately headed for what is apparently his favorite store to go shopping, where he was recognized on video by store asset protection employees. The total loss of the phone, purse and window was estimated at $850 and an investigation continues.

Vadnais Heights

Theft
A portable ice-fishing house sitting in the front yard of a residence in the 400 block of Walker Drive went missing the afternoon of Feb. 17. The words “Purple Otter Lodge 3” and a broken zipper can identify the $800 shelter.
