Ron Sholl, president of the New Brighton Lions Club, presents certificates to winners of the 2012 Lions Clubs International Peace Poster contest.
The Peace Poster contest is open to students ages 11-13 all over the world. In addition to making a poster expressing their idea of peace using the current year’s theme, each student must also write a short essay expressing their feelings about peace. Each school chooses a winning poster, which goes on to international judging.
Highview Middle School student Claire Kim received her certificate at the Academic Awards Ceremony on May 2.
Abel Manzanarez, accompanied by the school mascot, received his certificate at the Peace Day program on May 3, at Bel Air Elementary.
